OWENSBORO - Big Rivers Electric Corporation and IBEW Local 1701 partnered in May 2021 to donate a total of $25,000 to two Owensboro non-profit agencies. Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson joined the check presentations held at each location on the morning of May 4th, and each agency received $12,500.
The Daniel Pitino Shelter in Owensboro serves as a safe and secure place for homeless families, working to break the cycle of homelessness by addressing the needs of homeless or housing-insecure individuals and families through emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. The Hayden Home for Girls, located on the St. Joseph Peace Mission campus, serves as a long-term facility for girls between the ages of 12 and 18, including young ladies who are pregnant or parenting. The Hayden Home uses a multi-dimensional treatment approach with programs focused on individual and family therapy, mental health, nutrition, social skills, relationship building, daily living skills, and education.
