From longtime locals to new industry, we’ve got the experience in economic development. In recent years, Big Rivers responded to the increase in industry interest in western Kentucky with a strategic focus to support new and expanding companies. Big Rivers is open for business, with affordable electric rates, reliable energy service, and a central location that make our region a great place to live and work.
The Big Rivers power system is 99.999% reliable, and we’re incorporating new infrastructure and greater automatic restoration technology to push that reliability higher. To better serve incoming projects, we’ve upgraded transmission substations to match increased power needs near development sites. Recent upgrades include projects designed to support everything from an expansive steel mill in Meade County to new cryptocurrency mining activity in McCracken County. Big Rivers is also proud to support local and state agencies that encourage industrial and business growth.
