Big Rivers’ most important asset is our people. As a generation and transmission cooperative, we seek to follow the core principle of respect for the employee. These talented men and women live and work in the communities we serve and provide their skillset to improve energy service in western Kentucky.

Big Rivers employs a wide variety of positions spanning the electric generation and transmission spectrum. Our generating stations require the skills of engineers, mechanics, and electricians. A highly skilled team of linemen, engineers, electricians, and foresters develop and maintain a 22-county transmission system. Big Rivers also employs approximately 100 professionals, from accountants to IT personnel to attorneys and marketing positions, at the cooperative Headquarters in Owensboro. All these support positions enable our business to run efficiently and cost-effectively for our Member-Owners.

Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business with a Computer Information Systems emphasis
•5+ years’ experience in an information systems and technology environment: LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, data center, and cloud connectivity, security methods and topology, firewalls, cabling and network administration.
•Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
•Able to plan your own work and to work with a minimum of supervision
•Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion

Essential Skills
•Demonstrated expertise of technology platforms such as:
Microsoft Windows & Linux Servers and applications of SAN storage systems and associated iSCSI Fiber Channel Network Hardware, LAN/WAN firewalls, routers and switches. Various filtering and performance monitoring systems, Hardware virtualization systems, Disaster Recovery solutions, and Cyber Security related applications.
•Proven ability to design and implement secure network architectures.
•Create comprehensive network documentation, including designs, diagrams, and operational procedures.
•Collaboratively develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect company assets.
•The ideal candidate will also possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
•Experience with the Microsoft 365 environment and Entra ID is preferred.
Experience with virtualization apps such as VMWARE and Veeam is preferred.
•Professional certifications in cyber security such as CISSP or CISM are preferred.
•A professional certification in networking such as CCNP is also a plus.
•Knowledge of the Electric Cooperative business model is preferred.

Job Functions
This position has responsibility for Information Systems (IS) network infrastructure design, administration, and documentation of the Server, Storage, Virtualization, Database, and Network Infrastructure landscape. Uses tools and experience to analyze and evaluate current architectures, make recommendations for new infrastructure designs and changes to improve overall system performance, security, and maintainability. Also provide technical guidance in troubleshooting of infrastructure issues. Provides technical assistance to other IS/IT support staff, Member Owners, and Big Rivers vendors and employees as required. This position is on premises. A remote work option is not available at this time.

ACCOUNTING ANALYST II OR III (IRC9353)

LOCATION: Owensboro, KY

A bachelor’s degree in accounting (or some other field of its equivalent acceptable to management), plus three years related experience and/or training. Utility accounting experience, along with experience with Oracle and Comtrac accounting systems, is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially in Microsoft Excel. Must be able to interpret, clarify, and make decisions within the scope of their authority based on general policy rules of the Corporation, generally accepted accounting principles, and RUS accounting methods. Must have the ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. Analytical skills, attention to detail, accurate results and the ability to schedule work to meet deadlines are required. Experience in fuel accounting would be advantageous.

This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed accounting records in accordance with RUS accounting methods, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and relevant policies for the Company’s fuel inventory. The position plays an active roll in the monthly closing process. Job duties will consist of preparing monthly accounting entries to record fuel purchases and fuel burned, performing numerous account reconciliations, and verifying detailed data to prepare invoices for fuel vendors. The position also works within the accounting department and outside of the accounting department to resolve any issues surrounding proper classification of transactions, research new accounting guidance, from both RUS and GAAP perspectives, and provides suggestions for adopting and incorporating new guidance in the Company’s transactions and financial statements. Provides information, analysis, and support to management, other departments, and auditors, as well as performs other duties as required.

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

LOCATION: WILSON STATION - CENTERTOWN, KY

The candidate must possess skills in planning, prioritizing, and organizing activities. This position is responsible for supervising the production capabilities of the Company’s generating assets, ensuring adequate generating capacity and efficient utilization of the assets and resources necessary to deliver power to customers. Plan and direct activities that provide for a safe, accident-free workplace. Lead and direct all operational activities in a manner that supports a commitment to customer service.
